A Message from the Head

Our well-developed Christian ethos ensures that all children and their families are valued and helped to achieve their best. At the end of Year Six our pupils leave us, capable of staying safe and healthy, prepared for their future and able to make a difference in their local community.

Alderman Cogan’s School is committed to being an inclusive school – ensuring opportunities for all pupils and staff regardless of race, faith, gender or disability. We have high expectations in both academic work and behaviour and every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. Our children are eager to learn and to achieve their best, with the support of enthusiastic parents and carers.

The school has an enthusiastic and hard-working staff and a strong and dedicated Governing Body. Our aim is to enable all our children to fulfil their potential through quality teaching and a stimulating curriculum.  In addition to the National Curriculum we provide many other extra-curricular opportunities for the children to ensure that they receive a broad and balanced education. We are helped in this endeavour by various community groups and organisations, with whom we enjoy effective links.

We have a strong partnership with St Aidan’s Church. The whole school is involved in church services at various times of the year and members of the congregation are regular contributors to the life of our school.

We have recently made some new additions to our history gallery.  If you are an ex-pupil you may have some memorabilia you would like to share.  Please contact Mrs Fiona Kirlew via the school email address on our contacts page.

We also have some interesting documents for you to see on our history page and some exciting 1960’s(?) cine footage.  We would be interested to hear from anyone who recognises themselves or can give us a precise date for this footage.  

We would like to thank Mr Tony Prosser for helping us with our historical material - he’s quite the expert after 36 years teaching at our school!
