A Message from the Head

A photo of Headteacher Jeanette Sutherland taken at a 'School Photo's session - A smiling Jeanette is wearing a red v-necked blouse & has the regulatory white clouds on a blue sky backdropWelcome to Alderman Cogan’s Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School.  We are very proud of our school, our children and their achievements. Our well-developed Christian ethos ensures that all children and their families are valued and helped to achieve their best. At the end of Year Six our pupils leave us, capable of staying safe and healthy, prepared for their future and able to make a difference in their local community.

Alderman Cogan’s School is committed to being an inclusive school – ensuring opportunities for all pupils and staff regardless of race, faith, gender or disability. We have high expectations in both academic work and behaviour and every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. Our children are eager to learn and to achieve their best, with the support of enthusiastic parents and carers.

The school has an enthusiastic and hard-working staff and a strong and dedicated Governing Body. Our aim is to enable all our children to fulfil their potential through quality teaching and a stimulating curriculum.  In addition to the National Curriculum we provide many other extra-curricular opportunities for the children to ensure that they receive a broad and balanced education. We are helped in this endeavour by various community groups and organisations, with whom we enjoy effective links.

We have a strong partnership with St Aidan’s Church. The whole school is involved in church services at various times of the year and members of the congregation are regular contributors to the life of our school.

Community News

The school choir have been out and about singing carols and raising money for our school fund and for charity. They braved the December elements at Morrisons and the St. Stephen’s shopping centre and drew an enthusiastic crowd of spectators wherever they went.

We are pleased to tell you they raised £756 to share between our school and the Hull Homeless & Rootless charity.  Well done to all who took part and all who supported them.
